The heart is an image that, historically, has been used to represent a woman’s rear end (from behind and bent over, think about it), so in place of the the words arse and arsehole I will be using  or hole.

Arseholes are nothing more than people with holes in their hearts who suffer from broken ways of loving so, to me, the terms arsehole and hearthole are interchangeable. I feel this early use of the heart symbol is a perfect representation of the broken ways of loving often employed by holes which focus on shallow aspects of life and people over anything of real substance.
